I keep seeing some extra place offers but these seems like a lot of work and risk. Does anyone bother with them?

Hello. I did do an extra place a few weeks back. It isn’t much work really place 1 EW bet then lay half on win and half on place market. My horse came fourth so bookie paid (extrfa place) and because exchange was paying 3 places my lay bet won too. So yep It was worth it and not so much bother really. 🙂

Sounds good Rick ! How often would that happen though ? As often as trying to back the feature race with bet365 for £50 ?

I can’t say how often. How often can you pick the winner at 4/1 ?

1 in 4 times? excluding the bookmakers margin!

If possible, use odds matching software to minimise loss if the horse doesn’t come in the extra place.  Or if you have time, use an odds comparison website in comparison with an exchange.

As stated, it doesn’t happen very often, you’ll probably be happier concentrating on other strategies.

I have had a few here and there that I actually made a profit, albeit very small, without the horse hitting that extra place but I will tell you that it’s a great feeling getting them in!

Daz you sound clued in what do you think the most profitable offer is?

Is each way betting offers your preferred system?

Yes it was my preferred system once I had done all the best new customer offers and I made a few quid from it but what I noticed from this strategy was the PLACE market (didn’t bother with the win market).  Doing a back and lay the strategy on this market was very profitable as there were bigger margins.

As far as I know there is no matched betting software that shows the place market only so I had to do this manually using an odds comparison website and comparing against the exchange.  William Hill in particular was good for this, maybe as many as 6 selections on an average week day.  At my high point I averaged around £250 a week over the course of a month purely from WillHill place market. That led to my first ever bookmaker restriction!

Never thought of just checking the place market. Did you find just before the race was best? Or earlier on in the day?
